Family background
Samuel De Champlain was born in France in 1567. Champlain had a family. He had a Dad, (who was the Captain of a ship) and an Uncle (who taught him his navigation skills). He got married to a girl named Helene Boulle’ whose father, Nicolas Boullé was a man charged with carrying out royal decisions at court. Samuel married Helene because her father made decisions about explorers and could help him. Ten years after the wedding and still only 22 years old, Helene went with her husband on a trip to New France. She grew to really like the natives as her husband did.
Samuel De Champlain died in 1635 on Christmas day and is buried in Quebec, Canada.
